You’ve probably heard the reminders to check your residential smoke detectors when the time changes in the fall and spring. But are you doing the same thing for the fire protection equipment at your commercial or industrial location? Don’t wait until it’s time to “spring forward” to take care of this important, potentially lifesaving task. The fire protection experts at AllFire Services want you, your employees, and your customers to be protected all year long. Here are five fire safety tips to help you keep your facility safe.

  1. Test your fire alarms on a regular basis. Make sure the sensors are calibrated and that the batteries aren’t showing signs of corrosion. For good measure, replace the batteries annually to avoid any unnecessary risk.
  2. Check smoke detectors. Perform the same checks on any smoke detectors in your building.
  3. Check carbon monoxide detectors. CO detectors are critical safety equipment, especially in industrial settings. Make sure they work and replace the batteries each year.
  4. Take stock of your inventory. What types of fire suppression equipment do you have on hand? Make sure fire extinguishers, fire suppression foam, and other supplies are fully stocked and not expired.
  5. Test your emergency lighting. Emergency lights and exit signs are another vital part of your fire safety plan. Test them to make sure they’re visible and not obstructed. Replace any burned-out bulbs immediately.
